Microchips
While a collar and an identification tag should be your first step to make sure your lost pet will be returned home in case they get lost, many owners are turning to microchip technology. Microchips are tiny transponders, about the size of a grain of rice, that can be implanted in your pet's skin by many veterinarians and some animal shelters. Pasquotank County Animal Services has the equipment—special scanners—to scan each lost pet that is found lost or roaming at large. Microchips allow the PCAS team members to quickly reunite lost pets with owners.
PCAS encourages pet owners to consider this added level of protection for their pet.
